Bow Valley Fresh Food Box FAQ

General Information

1. What is the Fresh Food Box?

The Bow Valley Fresh Food Box is a community-driven program offering fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables at a lower cost. Each month, you can purchase a medium-sized box containing approximately 15 different produce items which can include bunches, servings and multiple pieces (e.g. 4 apples, grapes). Pick-up is available in Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, and Lake Louise.

2. Who can order a Fresh Food Box?

Anyone! If you’re interested in enjoying affordable, healthy produce and can pick up a box from one of our locations, you’re welcome to participate.

3. Who do I contact if I have an issue with my order or service?

For questions or concerns related to ordering, payments, or general support, please contact us at info@bvfa.ca.

Ordering & Payment

4. How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed directly through the Bow Valley Food Alliance website. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media for updates and reminders.

5. What payment methods are accepted?

We accept debit and credit card payments through our secure online checkout.

6. Where can I find order deadlines and pickup dates?

Cutoff dates and pickup schedules are posted on our website, in our newsletter, and on our social media channels.

Pickup & Missed Boxes

7. Where do I pick up my Fresh Food Box?

Pickup locations and times vary by community. Please refer to your confirmation email for details.

  • Lake Louise: Lake Louise Medical Clinic, 200 Hector Rd | 6–7 PM

  • Banff: Catharine Robb Whyte Building Lobby (above library), 101 Bear St | 4–6 PM

  • Exshaw: Exshaw Community Centre Kitchen, North Alley Door | 4–6 PM

  • Canmore: Canmore Recreation Centre, Back Parking Lot, 1900 8 Ave | 4–6 PM

8. What if I forget to pick up my box?

Unfortunately, missed boxes are not refundable and will be donated to local food programs.

Supported, Subsidized & Financial Assistance

9. Do you offer subsidized boxes?

Yes! Supported or subsidized boxes are available to community members who are registered with a municipal affordability programs such as the Banff or Lake Louise Access Card or the Canmore Affordability Card.

10. How do I apply for a supported subsidized box?

If you have a valid Banff or Lake Louise Access Card or Canmore Affordability Card you can order the subsidized box option listed on the web page. Please show your card at pick up.

11. What’s inside a Fresh Food Box?

Each medium box includes approximately 15 different types of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, sourced to reflect the time of year and what’s available.

12. Can I customize my box?

Customization is not available. However, if there are items you won’t use, feel free to donate them—we’ll ensure they go to someone in need.

13.Does the Fresh food box include eggs?

Not at the moment.

14. How can I volunteer or support the program?

We’re always looking for volunteers! Sign up here to help sort, or support delivery and logistics.

How the Fresh Food Box Works

  2. Our partner, Odd Bunch, sources “odd” or surplus produce from local farms and suppliers—perfectly good but often overlooked.

  3. We deliver it to your chosen pickup location.

  4. You enjoy fresh, nutritious produce at a great price!

How the Pay-It-Forward Program Works

  2. Odd Bunch collects fresh produce just as they would for a regular order.

  3. Your box is donated to a local family, individual, or community group.
